Happy January!
In 2025, my channel reached eleven thousand subscribers! The final amount came out to 11,109, 4,794 of which were from 2025. The growth of my channel was made possible thanks to you. Your support goes a long way and I could not appreciate you all enough.
As many of you know, it has been quite a while since my last video. At the beginning of 2025, I set a goal for myself to make at least 30 videos. I unfortunately fell very short of this goal, making only 11 videos in total. I often made plans for videos ahead of time and shared those plans in my community posts to keep you all excited for what’s to come next, but I realized that month after month, I would just keep coming short of those plans. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed with my lack of uploads, and I’m sure some of you may have felt the same way. So, what exactly happened this year?
The truth is, 2025 was quite the rollercoaster for me. There were days in which I simply did not have the opportunity to be at my computer, so editing or recording videos were completely out of the question. This much was the case during my summer break; I was able to make videos once per week for the entire month of June, but after that, real life took over, and I simply did not have that time anymore. What time I had for making videos soon got replaced with housework, running various all-day errands, and business related activities. By the time I was free to make videos, I was quite exhausted and simply did not have the energy to make anything.
Outside of break, I also had university work to prioritize. My university utilizes a ten-week quarter system, so a lot of assignments, quizzes, midterms, projects and exams must be crammed in a short amount of time. After my classes ended each day, I often found myself again lacking the energy to make any videos.
This more or less leads me to the biggest pain point of 2025. I could make as many excuses about being exhausted as I want, but it all boiled down to one thing, and that was the fact that I was simply in a very, very massive slump.
The truth is, while still below my projected video output, I could have had at least 16 videos out instead of the 11 videos I had in 2025. I ended up scrapping 5 videos last year.
The first video I scrapped was a comparison video between the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Note20 Ultra. I was about 50-60% into the editing process, and then I suddenly realized that this video didn’t really align with the identity of my channel. Was my channel supposed to be a tech channel or a Project SEKAI channel? I was very conflicted with this realization, and I couldn’t really find a good answer for it, so halfway through the editing process, I ended up abandoning the project altogether.
The second video I scrapped was a video about my switch from Windows to MacOS. In search of a better video editing and work laptop, I ended up purchasing a MacBook Pro, and recorded my unboxing and initial setup reaction. I also recorded a mini review a month later, and after reviewing the footage, the same question came up again, which lead me to abandon this project as well despite already being deep in the editing process.
The third video I scrapped was my Q&A video that I had recorded a couple months ago. When my channel reached 5,000 subsribers, I made a community post on YouTube asking my viewers to ask questions that I would eventually answer in a video. I had actually recorded my responses already, but when I got to review the footage, I realized that the footage just didn’t look the way I wanted it to. My glasses were slanted on my face, and my responses were slow and unprepared. I just couldn’t bear editing the footage and scrapped it.
The last two videos I scrapped were guides for Hold Notes and Spam Patterns in Project SEKAI, I didn’t get nearly as far with those videos, but I was particularly stumped on the scriptwriting process. I ended up rewriting the script for those videos at least three times, and I just felt extremely unsatisfied with the results, so after months of trying over and over again, I decided to put it down for the time being. I intend to come back to these topics at some point, but until I can figure out a proper way for me to write the script, these two videos will take a while before they’ll be uploaded, so do bear with me as I try and figure this out.
This more or less outlines the problems I was having with my content: too many scrapped videos, and too many unfinished scripts. In order for me to move forward with my content, I must find a way to break away from this slump.
In light of this creative slump though, I was able to create other things in the progress. This website for example, is something I worked hard to create when I wasn’t able to make videos. I learned much about the programming languages that go into creating a website, and I spent countless hours trying to fix bugs that seemed easy to fix on the surface. It was a very interesting experience and I am proud of the progress I made on this website since its initial release.
I also ended up hosting a Project SEKAI event at my university, and plan to host another one this year! If anyone goes to my university, I hope to see you there in a couple months!
When I wasn’t make videos, I tried finding ways to learn something new. After working on my website, I found an even deeper interest in computers. I learned how to use Arch Linux, took apart computers, and learned how to customize and “rice” my desktops. These are all things that I would like to share with you all in a video at some point.
But anyway, back to the topic at hand…
Trust me, I am just as disappointed as all of you with the lack of uploads. Not being able to make any videos bothers me immensely, and I want to make more content (at least double last year’s output) for all of you moving forward. This year, I will try my best to make this come true. I won’t set any concrete video upload goals, but instead I want to look back at the end of 2026 and be able to admire the progress that I made.
I hope you will continue to support me along the way. It is going to be a long journey, but I believe that it will prove to be an amazing one.
Here’s to a productive and prosperous 2026! I’ll see you all soon.
